According to the press material, Tyler recorded footage depicting disturbing scenes, which director Osunsanmi uses alongside re-enactments starring Milla Jovovich and Will Patton in a split screen. To further push the reality bit, Jovovich informs the audience right up front that she "plays the role of Dr. Abigail Tyler," and that the images they are about to see are very disturbing. (CNN)

Jovovich and "Abby" may have shown too much restraint, but that can't be said of Will Patton as Sheriff August, whose over-the-top theatrics here could make a televangelist blanch. Cops in Nome can apparently get away with a lot more than big city cops can: in one scene, a wild-eyed August comes thisclose to beating the hell out of Abby, a widowed mother of two small children, in her own home over her claims of alien abduction, even though his own officer has witnessed something in the sky.
