    Quentin Tarantino's Conversation Pi...  Aug 27, 2009
Last but not least, there's Lt. Aldo Raines, leader of The Basterds, played by Brad Pitt channeling Warren Oates, possibly channeling Quentin Tarantino, as he delivers the triumphant last line of dialogue (and sure-fire conversation starter): This may well be my masterpiece. Review: Tarantino's 'Basterds' Bloody Brilliant  Aug 21, 2009
Seemingly channeling Sgt. Hulka (Warren Oates) from "Stripes," Pitt commands attention with his good-ole Southern boy drawl and don't-F-with-me attitude (he drops F-bombs in the film at a regular pace). True, Aldo comes off as part caricature, but the character wouldn't be as nearly as entertaining without Pitt being as animated as he is. (Click2Houston, TX)

Wild Warren Oates  Aug 19, 2009
Ned Beatty and Warren Oates, resplendent stars in a Kentucky-Hollywood zodiac that stretches from Tod Browning to Johnny Depp, were sitting by a pool in Houston when Beatty asked Oates, How would you describe your politics ... Public Enemies  Jul 30, 2009
In 1973, John Milius directed one with Warren Oates in the lead; in 1945, the downmarket studio Monogram backed one starring the B-movie tough guy Lawrence Tierney, who was given a late-career boost when Quentin Tarantino cast him as the gang boss in Reservoir Dogs almost 50 years later. Mann has gone in a very different direction. (Sydney Morning Herald -- Entertainment)

The Real John Dillinger  Jul 2, 2009
But I felt much more at home in the scruffy, low-budget 1973 movie , directed by John Milius and starring Warren Oates. That movie was certainly less showy than this latest Hollywood version, but it made me feel in my gut that I understood something of the man, his legend, and his times. (Slate)

As Dillinger, Johnny Depp takes on a role and a legend  Jun 28, 2009
They include Martin Sheen ( Dillinger and Capone, 1995), Mark Harmon ( Dillinger, 1991), Robert Conrad ( The Lady in Red, 1979), Warren Oates ( Dillinger, 1973), and Ralph Meeker ( Dillinger, 1960). Oates bore the strongest physical resemblance to the real-life Dillinger, and the period of that film s making - the late 60s and early 70s - demonstrated a marked affinity to Dillinger s era.
