Fake postman stole Lowry paintings Feb 20, 2009
The stolen works by Lowry - famous for his matchstick men paintings - included one which had been kept by the artist himself until his death and also The Viaduct, once owned by actor Sir Alec Guinness. One other painting, Tanker Entering the Tyne, and three pencil drawings plus a pallette and brush set used by the artist were also stolen. (Telegraph.co.uk)
