    In 2004, cinematographer Russell Boyd won for Master and Commander (directed by Peter Weir) and Adam Elliot's Harvie Krumpet was best animated short. In 2005 Cate Blanchett, playing multiple Oscar-winner Katharine Hepburn in The Aviator, won best supporting actress; the strong showing for Australian cinematographers continued in 2006, when Dion Beebe won the Oscar for Memoirs of a Geisha.
