Apocalypse Soon: End Days at the Multiplex  Nov 16, 2009
OK, feelings have a place, even at the end of days; and the theme of holding onto our humanity in the midst of catastrophe is a noble one. But even though "2012 has a lot of high-flown talk about whether humanity is worth saving if you have to resort to inhuman means, it's a lowdown piece of fear-mongering. It promotes the profitable 2012/doomsday fad, which revolves around the Mayan calendar, polar shifts, and - I'm not making this up - the planet "Nibiru. (CBS News)

'2012': Feel 'the thrill of destruction'  Nov 11, 2009
Just like the ancient Maya myths said to predict the end of days in 2012, the governments of the world see the problem coming and have devised a fleet of arks to preserve the human species, as well as great works of art and favorite zoo animals. "When you go to see a movie like this, it's giving voice to your worst fears. It's like running around on Halloween and celebrating ghouls and mayhem," Cusack says. (USA Today -- Life)

    2012 looms but don't panic  Nov 11, 2009
Websites abound with warnings about the end of days; , and all predict a variety of calamities destroying the planet with some websites posting videos claiming to show the mythical Planet Nibiru. 2012 UK Review  Nov 9, 2009
Cue foreboding scenes of the world's leaders discussing the imminent 'end of days' at the G8 summit, an unspecified plan-of-action being put into place, and shady Sheiks making mysterious deals involving astronomical amounts of money. Trouble is, while this premise throws up complicated moral questions about who deserves to know, and which members of society should be saved, the film never truly examines such issues, instead preferring to skate over them in simplistic fashion. (IGN FilmForce)

Both Demi Moore, in The Seventh Sign (1988), and Nicolas Cage, in Knowing (2009), rather spectacularly bump up against the end of days. The Left Behind trilogy (2000, 2002, 2005), based on the best-selling series of Christian sci-fi novels, looks on the bright side of the end of the world - since, from a believing perspective, the end of this world means the beginning of a better world. (Boston Globe)

UN wants new global currency to replace dollar...  Sep 9, 2009
While I don't buy the "End of Days" nonsense, the UN is a bunch of elitists who want to remake the world in their own leftist utopian image that will favor large multinational corporations and bureaucracies at the expense of individual rights. A generation of apathy in Europe and the US has brought us to this point and I hope enough people wake up in time to stop this. (The Drudge Report)

Dont buy into Beyond a Reasonable Doubt  Sep 9, 2009
Actually, its origins go back even further its a remake of a 1956 thriller, one of the last movies Fritz Lang directed but in modernizing the story, writer-director Peter Hyams (End of Days) merely makes it feel rushed and insignificant. Hyams gets very little right here: not journalism, not romance, not even fundamental things like pacing and suspense, which are so crucial to making this genre work. (MSNBC -- Movies)

JIM DODSON: A Place That Warms the Heart  Mar 8, 2009
Sunday mornings, you see, are my favorite time of the week, about the only time I can be reasonably assured, with the faith of a mustard seed, that I'm reasonably sane and the world isn't going to hell in a handbasket, though it certainly sounded and looked a little like the end of days that morning. Not five minutes after she went out, for example, The Mull was back rattling the terrace door, cold and wet and demanding to get back in. (The Pilot Newspaper)
