Land Of The Lost  Jun 16, 2009
There was the 1970s TV newsreader Ron Burgundy, the 1970s basketball owner Jackie Moon, the 40-year-old teenager in Step Brothers, the remakes of '60s and '70s TV shows Bewitched and Starsky And Hutch, the oversized elf in Elf ... Ferrell does his usual array of silly gags: getting his clothes off so we squirm at the sight of his chubby curves, finding a way to cover himself in dinosaur urine, playing the banjo. (Sydney Morning Herald -- Entertainment)

Review: 'Land of the Lost' is a quirky remake  Jun 5, 2009
That's how it usually works with Ferrell, a practitioner of self-mortifying man-boy absurdism whose exposed hairy belly is as good a metaphor as any for his shtick. If you can stand the midriff, you can stand him. (San Francisco Chronicle -- Entertainment)

    Ferrell's flick truly ‘Lost'  Jun 5, 2009
Ferrell is caught somewhere between his confident, brazen roles of recent PG-13 past ( Anchorman,' Talladega Nights,' Blades of Glory'), which were unbearable to watch, and his more family friendly roles ( Elf,' Stranger than Fiction,' Bewitched') and comes up lacking a clear audience. But whoever the audience is, it is not children. (Rexburg Standard Journal, ID)

Todd Phillips' 'Hangover' Vegas farce  Jun 1, 2009
"A lot of comedians come from darker places - and by the way, that's why we love them - Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Vince Vaughn - there's a darkness behind them that makes them fun to watch. But you couldn't see Ben do 'Elf,' you know what I mean? "Like when Zach pretends the baby's masturbating - that wasn't in the script, that was something Zach did to me the day before with the doll ... That in itself is sort of a punk-rock attitude. (San Francisco Chronicle -- Entertainment)

    A spoof, misunderestimated  Mar 13, 2009
There's a hint of that same expression of confidence/confusion in nearly every Ferrell film portrayal to date the man-child Elf, the pompous Anchorman, the deluded pro athletes (basketball player, NASCAR driver, figure skater, pick one). Will Ferrells impression of the former president became a mainstay on Saturday Night Live. (Globe and Mail)

Will Ferrell keeps Bush at center stage  Feb 8, 2009
Since leaving "SNL" and New York, Ferrell has kept busy with movies, playing a leading role in nearly a dozen major releases, including "Elf," "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy" and "Step Brothers"; he has a big-budget remake of "Land of the Lost," the onetime children's television series by Sid and Marty Krofft, coming out this summer, and he is mulling a sequel to "Anchorman." At 41, though, Ferrell said he was "hitting the pause button slightly right now" on his career, as he mulls... (International Herald Tribune -- Arts)

Ferrell's Bush divides US critics  Feb 7, 2009
Ferrell - best known for roles in films such as Elf and Blades of Glory - honed his impersonation of a bumbling, gaffe prone Bush on the popular American comedy show, Saturday Night Live. Break-dancing. (BBC News -- Entertainment)
