In Deep Impact, one of 1998's two "meteor crashing to Earth" movies, President Tom Beck (Morgan Freeman) calls upon an international team of astronauts (Robert Duvall, Ron Eldard, Blair Underwood and Jon Favreau) to repel a comet that's on a collision course for Earth by landing on the comet and nuking it. Although Deep Impact doesn't enjoy the broader appreciation that its competitor Armageddon seems to have, the film at least takes its high concept crisis seriously. (IGN FilmForce)
