5Top: Movies that revolve around eating Jul 23, 2009
Thats the premise behind the most famous scene from this ribald Best Picture winner, starring Albert Finney as the rakish hero from the classic novel by Henry Fielding. Toms most memorable seduction involves him sitting across a well-laden table from a saucy wench (Joyce Redman): As the two slurp oysters, tear into pheasants and chomp various roast meats, they lasciviously eye each other and turn the feast into one huge double entendre. Others have played Poirot, of course - Albert Finney and Peter Ustinov, for example - but there can be no doubt that Suchet, with his pursed lips, waxed mustache and mannered little walk, is and always will be Hercule Poirot. As for Miss Marple, stay tuned: We'll review the four new films on July 3, but here's something to chew on in advance: Julia McKenzie has been tapped to fill Jane Marple's sensible shoes, succeeding Geraldine McEwan. By the way, I ll be very interested to watch Brendan Gleeson play Churchill in HBO s Into the Storm , the sequel of Paul Greengrass superb The Gathering Storm , in which the Churchills were played wonderfully by Albert Finney and Vanessa Redgrave. Greengrass doesn t direct this time, but I bet the movie s going to be stirring nonetheless. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution -- Opinion)

Among the initial Warner Archive offerings is the 1987 ''Orphans'' with Albert Finney (left) and Matthew Modine ... But some of the archive's initial offerings are quite a bit better than good - Frank Borzage's "Three Comrades" (with the enchanting Sullavan again); the opulent silent "Scaramouche" with Ramon Navarro; the twisty 1987 stage adaptation "Orphans," with its big acting from Albert Finney and Matthew Modine.
